As jewelry designer, Roshini observed a distinct lack of choice available in men’s accessories at the time. She founded Codis Maya in 1987, principally creating pieces for men using vitreous enamel.
A variety of other materials are also used such as precious stones, wood, horn, silver and gold. All of our enamel products are created with vitreous enamel meaning that they are made of glass and not plastic resins.
The process of vitreous enameling is an ancient skill that years of practice to perfect and was historically employed by masters like Lalique and Fabergé. Vitreous enameling is a fading craft that is only practiced by a few artisan makers in the world. We are very proud to uphold the traditions and craftspeople who help us make these beautiful products.
